ELEVEN teams battled it out at the Ludford Five-a-Side primary school tournament.

Playing in two leagues, Market Rasen Rangers, Louth Old Boys, Cockerington Cougars and Caistor Primary all won through to the semi-finals.

Market Rasen played Louth Old Boys in the first semi-final and won 1-0, with Caistor also winning their semi-final against Cockerington Cougars 1-0.

The final was a hard won battle, with Market Rasen coming out on top, 2-1.

Tournament organiser Caroline Feit presented the winners and runner-up trophies, as well as the Small Schools Cup, which went to Cockerington Cougars.

All the children from the winning teams also received certificates for their achievements.

“We would like to thank the referees for all their hard work, without whom the tournament could not have gone ahead,” said Mrs Feit, on behalf of the village hall committee.

“We would also like to thank Marion Tuplin and Tony Dean for their sterling work in the kitchen, as well as all supporters and spectators who braved the weather to make the day such a success.”
