Rain foils Lincs League leaders visit to Market Rasen

Market Rasen Town will have to wait a little longer to meet the Lincolnshire League leaders after Saturday's home match with Skegness Town was called off.

A waterlogged pitch following heavy midweek rains put paid to the fixture which has yet to be rearranged.

Town remain third-bottom of the Lincolnshire League, while Skegness saw their lead at the top cut to just two points after nearest rivals Hykeham won 6-0 at Louth.

Rasen are scheduled to return to Rase Park on Saturday when they welcome 11th-placed CGB Humbertherm (kick-off 2pm).

Horncastle Town moved to within three points of top spot after completing a 3-1 win at Brigg Town Reserves, although Skegness have at least three games in hand on their rivals.

Michael Jaksics gave Brigg an 11th-minute lead, but Michael Harness equalised before half-time, and second-half goals from Christopher Johnson and Stephen Brown sealed the win.

Despite the defeat, Brigg remained in eighth place with four games of the season remaining, and are not in action this weekend.
