Market Rasen U9 Football team continued their success on Sunday when they won the Greenbank Tournament in Lincoln.

The team got through the league stages of the tournament in second position having won three, drawn one and lost one.

Rasen then played Louth Old boys and won 1-0 with Finlay Drakes scoring late in extra time. The semi final saw Rasen against Heckington with goals from Andrew Marriott and Finlay Drakes sealing a 2-0 victory.

Brigg Town was the opposition in the final. Finlay Drakes scored the first and Alex Aistrop the second, Brigg hit back with three minutes to go to make it a nervy finish for Rasen, but they hung on to take the championship title.

Manager Karen Aistrop said “We had a great day, the boys just don’t give up in matches, our defence Josh Nichols and Philip Rands-Bett with George Dimmock in goal were strong in every match.

“To win this after winning the league is just brilliant for the boys and parents.”
