Market Rasen U9s 2 Rustons U9s 1

A TOUGH game played in very wet conditions, which made it very difficult to play good football, greeted Market Rasen U9s at the weekend.

Rasen started very brightly with two early chances for Callum Dean and Greg Watson, the Rustons’ keeper making two good saves. Rustons forced a fine save from stand in keeper George Balmer, but on their next attack Rasen opened the scoring with a fine shot from man of the match Greg Watson.

This spurred Rasen on with Joshua Jordan going close and the Rustons’ keeper making good saves from Callum Dean and Greg Watson.

Ben Flear then hit the post and when the ball came back his follow up was superbly saved by the Rustons’ keeper. Half time 1-0.

Rasen started the second half stronger with chances for Alex Rawden on his debut, Greg Watson and Josh Jordan.

Rustons equalised midway through the half against the run of play. This spurred Rustons on and the game now became end to end. Eight minutes from time a fine strike from Callum Dean earned Rasen maximum points which maintains their challenge for promotion, one point off league leaders Greenbank.
