Late run of goals give Rasen the win

Market Rasen 5 Caythorpe/Fulbeck 3

The game kicked off with Rasen soon on the attack and the Caythorpe/Fulbeck keeper having to make fine early saves from Greg Watson and Callum Dean.

But Caythorpe/Fulbeck soon started to come into the game and took the lead after 10 minutes when Rasen failed to clear the ball in their area.

Rasen came back strongly, with chances for Toby Ross, Ben Flear and Greg Watson, and finally the pressure told with a good equalising goal from Callum Dean. Caythorpe’s keeper made good saves from Callum Dean, Greg Watson and Oliver Adlam before Caythorpe took the lead again just before half time with a goal on the counter attack.

The second half started badly for Rasen, who conceded a third goal in the first minute of the half. Finlay Boyes in the Rasen goal also made two good saves. The game was then fairly even and end to end.

Halfway through the second half, a clearance in his own box from man of the match George Balmer found Ben Flear on the halfway line who broke free, ran to the edge of the 18 yard box and unleashed a fantastic shot into the goal to make it 2-3.

This inspired Rasen and other chances fell to Greg Watson, Callum Dean and Ben Flear and, with 10 minutes left, Rasen equalised when a dangerous cross from George Balmer ended with a Caythorpe defender heading over his own keeper.

It was all Rasen now and further excellent attacking resulted in two good late goals from Greg Watson to make the final score a well deserved 5-3 win.

This win puts Rasen in third place in the League with games in hand.
