Market Rasen Under 15s travelled to Ruskington Lions with confidence running high after last week’s hard-fought draw with Alford Town.

The first half was tight in the early stages with plenty of scrappy play, but Rasen gradually got the ball on the floor and started to create chances.

The visitors took the lead midway through the first half through Ethan Janes who completed his hat-trick before half-time with two more well-taken goals to give Rasen a 3-0 lead at the break.

Rasen made several changes at half-time and then really took hold of the game as they dominated the second period and added another seven goals.

Man-of-the-match Janes added five more goals to take his tally to eight, allied to strikes from Jack Richards and Alex Negrillo sealed a 10-1 victory.

Apart from a slip midway through the second half which allowed Ruskington a consolation and denied Rasen a clean sheet, the defence was fantastic, led by Jacob Bennett.

An improved team display gave Rasen the kind of comprehensive result the team had hoped for following a couple of tight opening fixtures.

There were some great individual performances across the pitch, giving them momentum to take into their next game, a County Cup match against Grimsby Discoveries Yellows at Rase Park.
