Honours are even in derby cup encounter

Struggling Market Rasen Town had some respite from league action with a Supplementary Cup tie at home to local rivals Horncastle Town on Saturday.

The game ended in stalemate, with neither side able to find the back of the net.

The 0-0 draw in Supplementary Cup Group C was Rasen’s opening game in the competition and the result moves them into second place in the three-team group. Horncastle top the group after beating Brigg Town Reserves in their opener 2-1, with the Brigg outfit now bottom of the group.

This coming Saturday, Market Rasen Town are at home to Skegness Town in the Knockout Cup (KO 2.30pm).

It will be a tough challenge for Rasen, who are currently lying bottom of the Lincolnshire League, having lost their opening four games. By contrast, Skegness are fourth in the table with seven points from four games.
