FOOTBALL: Rasen U10s continue strong season

Market Rasen 5 Claytons 5

October 28

Rasen started the stronger team, nearly scoring in the first minute.

However they took the lead after just three minutes through Greg Watson after great work between him and Callum Dean.

Just two minutes later Rasen went further in front when a Greg Watson shot hit a Claytons’ defender and rolled in.

Rasen were unlucky not to get a third when a Ben Flear scissor kick was well saved by the Claytons’ goalkeeper.

Claytons pulled a goal back on 15 minutes after hesitancy in the Rasen defence. Claytons then equalised five minutes before half time.

Rasen came storming out in the second half and took the lead again with a shot from Callum Dean.

They soon went 4-2 up when from a cross Cameron Lord volleyed home his first goal for the team. Ten minutes into the second half Claytons scored their third goal and the game was now end to end. Five minutes later Claytons equalised.

Rasen soon scored their fifth with man of the match Callum Dean’s second goal of the game.

Claytons equalised again to end the scoring in a 10 goal thriller, although both teams had further chances to win the game.

Market Rasen 3 Cherry Colts 1

October 21

Cherry started the game the stronger of the two teams and took the lead after 10 minutes with an unstoppable volley into the top corner of the net.

The goal seemed to spur Rasen into action, Kyle Bainbridge seeing his strike hit the post. Cherry then made three goal-line clearances to stop Rasen equalising.

The eventual equalisier came in the second half, a 30–yard shot from Kyle Bainbridge, who amazingly repeated this feat just five minutes later to put Rasen ahead.

A corner two minutes from time from Lewis Dean found Alex Rawden at the far post and his shot found the back of the net to seal the game for Rasen. Man of the match, Alex Rawden.

Team: Finley Boyes, George Balmer, Oliver Adlam, Lewis Dean, Callum Dean, Greg Watson, Benjamin Flear, Cameron Lord, Kyle Bainbridge, Alex Rawden.
