Caistor Tennyson FC continued their good start to the season, which has seen them climb to the top of the East Lincs Combination Division 1 table, when they beat Louth Old Boys 2-1 at the London Road Playing Field and followed this up with a 5-1 trouncing of ARG FC.
Both goals at Louth came from Luke Clifford and it gave Tennyson 10 points from their four games played this season and was a result that showed clearly that they will again be among the sides challenging for the title at the end of the season.
Their second game was against ARG FC with Tennyson coming out on top with a convincing 5-1 margin. Tennyson opened this game brightly, playing some of their best football of the season.
The football was bright with some slick passing, the pace of their midfield putting the opposition under considerable pressure. It was no surprise when Luke Clifford blasted Tennyson into the lead.
At this point though the wheels came off Tennyson’s slick play and ARG suddenly found an extra gear and deservedly equalised.
The rest of the first half was far from convincing so far as Tennyson were concerned and the defence came under pressure and scrappy play was all too commonplace.
However, Tennyson suddenly got a grip of themselves and goals from Clifford and Araan Ford following a corner, gave them a 3-1 lead by half time.
The second half saw Tennyson get a firm grip in defence. goals from Nimmo and Clifford, completing his hat trick, saw the game firmly in Tennyson’s grip and also kept them at the top of the league with a home game to follow this Saturday.
