FOOTBALL: Caistor put in good performance in opening season friendly

Healing 2-2 Caistor Rovers

Caistor Rovers first game of the new season saw them put out a new look team, including new goalkeeper Sam Jarvis, centre half Chris Jefferson, left back Jack Marchant and Ali Stopper along with seasoned veteran Adam Reilly completing the back four.

Rovers started the game well applying good early pressure on the experienced Healing side. However all Rovers good work was undone by a neat finish from the Healing forward.

Rovers struck back with a great run and finish from Kieran Togher and went in to the interval level at 1-1.

The second half didn’t start well for Rovers as they struggled to keep possession and fell behind from a route one long ball that was finished by the Healing striker.

Rovers spent most of the second half on the back foot, however they saved the best move of the half for the last moments of the game when they produced a flowing move which saw Andy Belt produce a fine finish under pressure.

Overall Caistor produced a fine performance with a new look side.

Man of the match sponsored by Savages Fish and Chip Shop was awarded to Luke Williams for a fine performance in the centre of midfield.

Matchball sponsor was Lincon Building & Construction Services.
