Middle Rasen FC 2-1 RM Imp
MIDDLE Rasen Football Club began their second season in the WJ Harrisons Printers Lincoln football league and have had a mixed start.
After two consecutive defeats to the Ivy Tavern and Waddington United they took on RM Imp looking to kick start their season.
Middle had the early chances from set pieces with skipper Chris Potter going close on two occasions. This seemed to spur the visitors into life and Imp then took control of possession and started to dominate with first half, stand-in keeper Dan Norburn the busier of the two keepers.
On the half hour mark the visitors took the lead with a header at the far post from a set piece.
The second half started with the hosts 1-0 down and another goalkeeper change, this time with manager Tom Bradford taking the gloves after a tactical re-shuffle.
The visitors pressed on for the second, but the defence marshalled by Potter and Trev Taylor stood firm and Middle began to grow in confidence.
Then on 65 minutes the equaliser for the home side. A good move down the right saw Lawrence king with a shot from the edge of the area which the keeper couldn’t hold and Darren Salmon at the far post had an easy tap in.
This gave the home side a boost of confidence as they pushed on for the win, and it duly came with ten minutes to go, 16-year-old Dale Kennedy hit a wonder goal with a shot on the volley from 25-yards which dipped straight into the top corner, leaving the visiting keeper with no chance.
Middle defended stoutly for the last ten minutes with Bradford making two important saves to hold on to their first points of the season.
