Entertaining game for Under 9s

Market Rasen U9s 3 Hykeham Tigers 3

THIS was Market Rasen’s first League match for four weeks and it was another very entertaining game between two teams near the top of the division.

The game started with both teams creating chances and both goalkeepers making excellent saves.

Rasen took the lead after six minutes with a lovely team move involving George Balmer, Greg Watson and finishing with Callum Dean scoring with a lovely low drive into the net.

Finley Boyes made another excellent save to stop Hykeham from equalising.

Both teams continued to play end to end football creating several chances, but Rasen went 2-0 up after 20 minutes with a great finish from Greg Watson.

Hykeham pulled a goal back a minute before half time making it 2-1 going into the break.

The second half started with both teams playing good football, but six minutes in, a fine goal from Greg Watson put Rasen 3-1 up.

Just after this, a fantastic save from the Hykeham keeper stopped Ben Flear from scoring for Rasen and soon after Hykeham scored their second goal with a great team move.

Greg Watson, Callum Dean and George Balmer were denied by the inspired Hykeham keeper and Hykeham scored their third goal five minutes from the end of the match.

Man of the match was a joint award between George Balmer and Kyle Bainbridge.

Team: Oliver Adlam, Kyle Bainbridge, George Balmer, Finley Boyes (c), Callum Dean, Benjamin Flear, Toby Ross, Davey Wallace, Greg Watson.
