Caistor crush Somercotes to remain top
Ryan Allen who bagged two goals for Caistor tennyson in their 5-0 win over North Somercotes.
Caistor Tennyson FC strengthened their position at the top of the East Lincolnshire Combination Football League with a 5-0 demolition of North Somercotes Reserves on Saturday at Caistor Sports Ground.
After the recent wet weather abated the pitch was in excellent condition and Caistor made a fine start to 2013.
Caistor dominated for large periods of the game with a great return for Ryan Allen who bagged two goals.
Slick efforts from Mike Kelly and Nathan Smith added to the score line, topped with a sublime 20–yard dipping half volley from Ben Young
Somercoates were restricted to very few attempts with a solid performance from Tennyson’s back four and a man of the match appearance at right back from Rob Logan
The 2-0 half time scoreline could have been different had it no been for an excellent penalty save from in–form keeper Ben Togher.
In the end it was a well deserved win and a solid team performance from Tennyson that keeps them three points ahead of neighbours Kirmington in the race for promotion.
Caistor Rovers were without a game in the Grimsby Sunday League.
