Trouble deepens for desperate South Kelsey

CAISTOR were without a game in the Lincolnshire Premier League and so the local spotlight switched to whether South Kelsey could still dig themselves out of relegation trouble.

In the event they went deeper into it having made another low score at home, this time against title-chasing Nettleham.

South Kelsey were put in by Nettleham and were all out for a meagre 60 (Grobbelaar 8-16). Connor Hawkins topped the scores with 17 runs, such was the struggle South Kelsey had.

For a short while South Kelsey had four Nettleham wickets down for 18 runs after a mere 9 overs, but eventually lost by five wickets. In the end Nettleham responded with 61 for 5.

In Division 2 there was a major setback for Keelby’s promotion hopes as they lost at home to struggling Washingborough.

Keelby posted 139 for eight, a Matt Bevis half-century being one of the few highlights. Washingborough had no trouble reaching their target, losing only one wicket.

In the same division Caistor 2nds completed their fixtures with a home defeat against leaders Scunthorpe Town 2nds. It completes a miserable season for Caistor 2nds who face life in Division 3 next year.

In Division 4 Keelby 2nds lost away to bottom team Scothern 2nds, for whom this was only their second win of the campaign. Scothern 2nds hit 119, Keelby 2nds being dismissed 10 runs short on 109.
