MARKET Rasen Cricket Club has reappointed Simon Bunn as captain for the 2012 season with Gary Bierlein as his vice captain.

Bunn is hopeful that the club can build on last season’s promotion success from Division 2 by making a mark in Division 1 in the new season.

He said: “We have made some new signings and the main one is the return of Dale Christie to play in the Saturday 1st team.

“Club chairman Mark Robinson is dropping down to captain the 2nd X1 where new Lincolnshire League secretary Andrew Richley stands down.”

One young player Bunn said to watch out for will be wicket keeper Tom Keast, who has come through the junior sides and looks set to get a role as 1st team keeper.

Meanwhile local all rounder Matt Rutherford, who has captained Lincoln Lindum in recent seasons, has moved north and will be playing for Grimsby Town in the Lincs ECB League this season.

Rutherford has played Sunday cricket for Market Rasen is recent years after spending his formative years with the club before moving to Lindum.

He is expected to again turn out for Market Rasen on Sundays in the Lincoln League this year.
