Having won the toss and elected to field first, Rasen started well as they kept the run rate down thanks to good bowling from Dan Norburn and some excellent fielding.

Norburn removed Matt O’Halloran for 15, and in the next over Rob Chamberlain brilliantly ran out Cosgrove for six with the score on 51-2 after eight overs.

Cherry dominated the second half of the innings as Will Carter (55 not out) and Scott Coupland (53 not out) attacked the Rasen bowlers.

Hitting some big sixes, they cleverly worked the ball around the ground to take Cherry to 133-2 from their 16 overs.

Middle’s innings started slowly when Tom Boryszczuk was caught off the bowling of Jack Bayliss for 13.

Chris Higgins and Darren Salmon then kept their side in the game, putting on 64 runs in nine overs until Salmon was run out for 27.

But Rasen were right in the game when Rob Chamberlain arrived at the crease and pushed the run rate along.

When Higgins fell for 35 the game looked to be out of the reach with 42 needed off four overs.

Middle continued to score at a good rate, but they fell just short, finishing on 123-7.
