CRICKET: Wins for Owmby and Keelby but defeat for South Kelsey

Owmby Cricket Club in Division 1 had a comfortable five wicket win when they visited Messingham 2nd.

Owmby won the toss and skipper Rakesh Chandar-Nair opted to bowl. Messingham were dismissed for 142 with David Hill, Robert Bain, Sam Chapman, Ciaron Deegan and James Cooper all claiming two wickets. Cox top scored for the home side with 48.

Owmby’s reply saw Hill, Deegan, Cooper and the skipper all get scores, which proved enough for Owmby to get to their target on 143 for 5 and a very useful win.

Keelby in Division 2 entertained Cherry Willingham 2nd and won by three wickets. Cherry hit 183 for 8, Danny Bevis claiming three wickets and Chris Charlton two. Top scorers for Keelby in their reply of 184 for 7 were Scott Bennett with 45 and Charlton with an unbeaten 40.

South Kelsey lost by four wickets at Laportes in Division 3. Kelsey’s 129 all out never looked to be enough and it owed everything to an unbeaten 56 from Matt Burgess. Laportes chased down without too much trouble, getting to 131 for the loss of 6 wickets in the 32nd over. Mark Fisher took three wickets and Jon Baty two in the South Kesley attack.
