The rain put paid to Caistor Cricket Club’s hopes of any action this weekend, the 1st teams game away at Haxey and the 2nds home match against Cherry Willingham both abandoned.

Both match had barely seen 10 overs of action before they were called off.

The U13s game away to Louth, due to be played on Sunday, was also cancelled.

Caistor 1st did record a win on bank holiday Monday at home to Scunthorpe, coming out on top by 90 runs.

Caistor were put into bat by Scunthorpe, and enjoyed themselves, openers Harry Boulton and Paul Ridley helping themselves to 51 and 56 respectively.

Rory Ronaldson hit 56 and Lane Tutty 31 and by the time Caistor’s 50 overs were up the scoreboard read 242, a big target to chase.

Scunthorpe opener Dylan Hopkins provided resistance for the Caistor bowlers, hitting 55 before falling to the bowling of Kieran Brooker. Jamie Brumby and Ben Brumby also provided runs for the visitors, 22 and 24 respectively, but Sean Woolley, Paul Dimbleby, Paul Ridley and Oliver Barrick otherwise made short work of the Scunthorpe attack, 152 all out.

This Saturday Caistor 1sts welcome Barton Town 1sts to Brigg Road, while the 2nds travel to Keelby and the 3rds to Scothern.
