CRICKET: Middle Rasen romp to victory against Hartsholme

The word whitewash springs to mind, but despite a comprehensive victory over Hartsholme at the weekend Middle Rasen Cricket Club still trail Heckington by six points in the Lincoln and District League Division 1.

On Sunday Middle Rasen brushed Hartsholme aside, hitting 261 for 5 in their allotted overs. The pick of the Middle team were Chris Potter, who hit 86 not out, Darren Salmon, 46, and Kevin Salmon 35.

The reply was poor. Hartsholme were skittled for just 38 runs, only one batsmen making double figures. Dave Wells took two wickets in less than two overs, with Daniel Norburn, Richard Boryszczuk and Tom Boryszczuk also taking two each.

Two games now remain, Billingborough away this Sunday, September 1, and Branston away on Sunday September 8. Middle Will need to win both and hope Heckington drop points if they want to win the league title.
