It was not the fullest of programmes for our patch on Saturday in the Lincolnshire League, but there were some exciting games.
The game in Division 2 between Keelby and Hibaldstow at Keelby ended in a tie with both sides making 232 runs. Hibaldstow batted first and hit 232 for 7, John Taylor top scoring with 83 and being well supported by Mark Nicholson with 57. David White and Chris Charlton both took two wickets for Keelby.
When Keelby batted Gary Spencer with 34 and Danny Bevis with 53 gave them a good start with an opening stand of 95. Clearly the game was going to be close as the overs were eaten up and the Hibaldstow attack kept taking wickets. Nick Shepherdson with 4 for 71 and Joe Taylor with 3 for 48 were the main wicket takers.
In the end the final Keelby pairing of David White and Lewis Cox could not get the extra run to see their side home.
Owmby had a game in Division 1 when they hosted Scothern. The visitors posted 192 for 7 when they batted first, but it was not Owmby’s day as they a collapsed in reply for a meagre 75 all out, making this just about their worst defeat of the season, Scothern winning by 117 runs.
