Caistor Cricket Club’s 1st XI travelled to Nettleham on Saturday but went home up the A46 with nothing to show for their efforts.
Having been put into bat by the home team Caistor hit 150, Paul Dimbleby top scored with 34 not out, Lane Tutty hitting 23, Harry Boulton 18, Jim Parker 16 and Rory Ronaldson also adding to the total.
Premier Division rivals Nettleham never looked like falling short of the target though, opener Phil Brown hitting 46, and although Paul Dimbleby snapped up the wickets of the home team’s second and third batsmen for little loss, Thomas Dalton added 44 before falling to Paul Jackson.
Rhett Bridgens and David Manby saw Nettleham home though, scoring 22 and 24 respectively.
Caistor 2nds were too strong for Alkborough 2nds in division 2 as Kevin Parker starred with the bat, 56 not out and Ben Young 21 not out helping Caistor to 135 in their 45 overs.
Alkborough could only manage 108 in reply, and once openers Neil Gray and David Elliott lost their wickets, the attack were quickly wrapped up for little loss, Chris Laister taking five wickets off 10 overs for 18 runs and Tim Brown three wickets off 14 overs for 15 runs.
A target of 200 set by Morton was always going to be a tough task for Caistor 3rds to chase down in Division four.
But they will have hoped for better than being bowled out for just 58 only Luke Francis making double figures for the young side.
On Sunday Caistor Under 13s recorded a winning draw against Cleethorpes A Under 13s and Caistor Cougars had an easy nine wicket win over Luddington Cricket Club Sunday 1sts.
Luddington were bowled out for just 65, Kieran Brooker taking 4 wickets off 7 overs for 30 runs, Ben Young and Ben Barrick sealing two wickets each.
In reply, Caistor needed just 14 overs as Harry Boulton hit 21 not out, Rory Ronaldson 10 not out and Gareth Johnson 35.
This Saturday Caistor 1sts host Alford, while the 2nds travel to Alford 2nds.
On Sunday Caistor 3rds host Brigg Town 1sts and Caistor Cougars travel to Hibaldstow 2nds.
