A five wicket loss was suffered by Owmby in Lincolnshire’s Division 1 away at Appleby Frodingham 2nd.
Owmby took advantage of the excellent pitch and fast outfield and hit a useful 185 for 6 in their allotted 45 overs. There were contributions from Joe Atkin with 22, Sam Atkin with 30, Kev Bowring with 33, James Cooper with 40 and the veteran Edwin Chappell, who hit an unbeaten 35.
Frodingham were up to the task of chasing that score and led by Mick Bramley, with 64 not out, got to the target on 189 for 5 in the 43rd over.
Sam Atkin with three wickets and Cieron Deegan with two made inroads for Owmby, who would have taken tea confident of a win. It was not to be.
Hibaldstow in Division 2 had a comprehensive 109 run defeat by Alkborough 2nd at home.
The visitors batted and posted 186 for 6 in their 45 overs. Gary Dixon and Nick Shepherdson both took two wickets for the home side who were skittled for a mere 77 in just 25 overs when they batted.
Dixon top scored with 23 but the Alborough attack proved much too strong, particularly Richard Kirman with 5 for 17 and Paul Mitchell with 4 for 34.
Keelby in Division 2 also lost by a wide margin to Haxey 2nd. Keelby showed poor form with the bat, posting only 92 all out, Danny Bevis hitting 48. It was nowwhere near enough as Haxey took only 20 overs and lost but 2 wickets in getting to the winning total of 93.
South Kelsey went close to another win but in the final count lost by a mere 11 runs at home to Barton Town 2nd.
Barton hit 179 for 7 with Jon Baty taking 5 for 51. Rob Baty opened the Kelsey reply and hit 59, well supported by Tony George with 32 and Rob Denniss with 37 at number 7. They still had 4 overs left when the last wicket,that of Neil Thompson, fell for 7, the score being 168.
