Caistor Cricket Club’s 1st teams eased to a five wicket home victory against Nettleham at the weekend.
Having won the toss Caistor elected to bowl and got off to a good start, dismissing the visitors top 3 batsmen for just 17 runs.
It was the innings of Jack Curtis that steadied Nettleham’s ship as he smashed 60 from 70 balls. But fine bowling from Paul Ridley, who finished with four wickets to his name, dismissed Curtis and with Paul Dimbleby snatching three wickets, Paul Jackson two and Kieran Brooker one, Nettelham were dismissed for 136.
Opener Paul Dimbleby may have gone for a duck and Rory Ronaldson just 1 at the start of Caistor’s reply, but Harry Boulton starred as he hit an unbeaten 86 and Dominic Bishop 19 not out as Caistor cruised to the target with five wickets to spare.
Caistor 2nds also record a comprehensive win away at Alkborough, taking victory by 10 wickets.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl, Alkborough opener Russ Baker hit 23 before losing his wicket to the bowling of Chris Laister and the safe catching hands of Ben Young.
Fellow opener Neil Gray hit an unbeaten 19, sadly he had little support from his teammates, as Alkborough folded, Chris Laister clean bowling four batsmen for ducks and Oliver Barrick picking up 2 wickets as the home side collapsed to 54 all out, Laister ending with remarkable figures, 7 wickets for 9 runs with 9 maidens.
Caistor openers Nathan Davis and Kevin Parker hit unbeaten scores of 17 and 35 respectively as the visitors eased to a 10 wicket win and maintain their spot at the top of Lincolnshire County League Second Division.
This Saturday the 1sts head to Alford, while the 2nds entertain Alford 2nds at Brigg Rooad and the 3rds make the trip to face Brigg.
