After three wins had lifted them to mid-table Caistor Cricket Club suffered a setback when they went down by two wickets to last season’s champions Scunthorpe Town in the Premier League encounter at Heslam Park.

Caistor skipper Liam Wood won the toss and elected to bat. The in-form Harry Boulton and Peter Briggs put together a 43 run opening stand before Briggs was bowled for 22. Boulton went for 37 but Paul Ridley added 41 useful runs before Caistor were all out in the 49th over for 164.

The home side lost wickets steadily when they replied, but a half century from Jamie Brumby mid-innings rallied them and in the end Caistor went down by the slender margin of two wickets as Scunthorpe reached 165 for 8 in the 48th over. Paul Dimbleby with four wickets was the main wicket taker.

Caistor 2nds had a four wicket win over Cleethorpes 3rds. The home side could only muster 111 with spinner James France and Chris Laister each claiming three wickets.

Former 1st team all rounder France, who was out injured for a long spell, continued his comeback with an unbeaten 38 after skipper Kev Parker had set the innings off with 38 himself. Caistor reached their target on 112 for the loss of six wickets.
