A win and a loss for Caistor 1st XI in the latest two games means they should be safe from any relegation danger, lying fourth from bottom of the Premier League able with two games left.

The win at Alford was by one wicket in a nailbiting finish. The home side were dismissed for 149 with Paul Ridley taking 5 for 47 and Kieran Brooker 4 for 33. Caistor’s reply was 153 for 9 with contributions from Jim Parker (41) Matt Travis (21) Paul Ridley (20) and Mark Gowshall (21).

Defeat came to Barton Town by 16 runs. Barton posted 179 for 9 from their 50 overs. Paul Dimbleby took 3 for 53 from 19 overs and Matt Travis 2 for 18. Caistor’s reply was built around a solid 40 from experienced opener Peter Briggs and 38 from skipper Liam Wood. Despite contributions of 28 from Paul Dimbleby and 29 from Kieran Brooker Caistor just fell short.

Caistor 2nds had an excellent four wicket win in Division 2 away at Alkborough 2nd.

Alkborough put together a decent total of 163 for 9 which owed much to Kilgallon who hit 63. Dan Healey was the star bowler for Caistor with 5 for 45 while Tim Brown took 3 for 21.

When Caistor replied skipper Kevin Parker put together a fine captain’s knock of 73 not out and was well supported by Oliver Barrick with 35. Caistor got to the target on 167 for the loss of 6 wickers and vital points to ease their relegation worries.

This Saturday Caistor 1st are away at Bracebridge Heath 2nds while the 2nd team have a home game with Keelby. Caistor 3rds have an away game at Old Lincolnians.
