Caistor 2nds and 3rds suffered defeats on Saturday while the only element to defeat Caistor 1sts was the weather as their game at Barton was abandoned.

Caistor 2nds hosted Keelby 1sts and having won the toss put the visitors into bat. It looked like a good decision as openers Scott Bennett and Danny Bevis were dismissed cheaply to leave Keelby on 7-2.

That brought Andy Bagnall to the crease and it was his unbeaten 99 that formed the basis of Keelby’s innings. David White and Gary Spencer added 22 each as the visitors closed on 176 for 5 after 45 overs, Tim Brown sealing 3 wickets and 5 maidens for Caistor.

In reply, opener Ben Young went for a duck and only Sam Welton and Kevin Parker, 23 and 28 respectively made an impact for Caistor as they were dismissed for just 91 runs, bowler Joe Smith taking 4 wickets and David White 5.

Caistor 3rds also elected to bowl away at Old Lincolnians 2nds, but could not stop the home side scoring freely as they hit 178 in 45 overs for the loss of 6 wickets, Ernie Allison taking 3 of those.

In reply, Caistor’s top order looked to have everything under control, Peter Jacob hitting 47, Will Jacob 48 and George Gillott, 41. On 154-4 Caistor looked to be heading to victory, Old Lincolnians had other ideas though.

The bowlers ripped out the visitors lower order as Caistor finished on 173 for 9 after 45 overs, just 5 runs short.

Only Caistor 2nds are in action next week as they host Louth 2nds at Brigg Road.
