An unbeaten 66 from Kevin Parker and a half century from Mark Gowshall steered Caistor 2nds to victory against Holton-le-Clay 1sts at the weekend.

Gowshall made 57 before losing his wicket and it was a good thing he and Parker were in-form with the bat as no other Caistor batsmen made double figures and 154 looked possible as Holton-le-Clay took the bat.

And there was 54 on the scoreboard before Sam Welton caught Danny Portus off the bowling of Ben Barrick for 25. Paul Holmes batting at number 2 top scored with 53 and his was the last wicket to fall, being claimed by Chris Laister. The rest of the Holton attack offered little resistance though, and they were all out for 123 as Caistor sealed the points on the opening day of the Lincolnshire County League First Division.

Ben Barrick was the pick of Caistor’s bowlers, finishing with six wickets for just 14 runs. Chris Laister took three and James Cooper one.
