Caistor Cricket Club 1st and 2nds returned to winning ways on Saturday, the 1sts away at Alkborough and the 2nds at home to Messingham.

Batting first, the bulk of Caistor’s 152 total came from their first four batsmen, Harry Boulton hitting 44, Paul Dimbleby 21, Liam Wood 43 and Lane Tutty 13.

Once the openers were dismissed though the rest of the batting line-up made little impact, nobody making double figures.

The total looked a little low, and although Paul Dimbleby had opener Steve Clay lbw for 1, Alkborough began to build a good partnership with Lee Brocklebank hitting 40 and Callum Render 21 before both falling victim to Oliver Barrick.

And it was Barrick who proved key for Caistor, finishing with nine wickets for 12 overs as the home side were dismissed for 108.

Caistor 2nds maintained their spot at the top of the Lincolnshire League Second Division winning by 23 runs at home to Messingham.

Caistor won the toss and elected to bat, opener Nathan Davis going for 1, Kevin Parker and Sam Welton for 10 each and when Luke Francis at number 6 went for just 5, Caistor were wobbling on 57-6.

Caistor’s bottom order steadied the ship, Harry Cearnes top scoring with 23, Tim Brown hitting 18, Chris Laister 16 and Ben Barrick 12, the home side finishing on 126 all out.

In reply, Messingham looked in a good position at 102-7. But Chris Laister removed Cameron Sanderson for just 4 and John West for a duck, leaving Tim Brown to capture the wicket of Nigel Barnes for 0 and dismiss the visitors for 103.

This Saturday Caistor 1sts host Scunthorpe Town 1sts, the 2nds travel to Louth 2nds and the 3rds travel to Cleethorpes 4ths.
