Another good win for Rasen FC

PRIDE dented - that was the story behind Market Rasen FC's win on Saturday.

It was not quite like the 27-0 goal feast of last month, but Market Rasen Football Club's 6-0 demolition of Pride FC was also quite a performance!

It was marked by the return of former semi-pro Ian Williams, the veteran striker notching two goals and almost completing a hat trick in the second half.

Market Rasen shuffled the pack a little for the Lincoln Saturday League game and it was obvious from the start they ought to notch another win.

The back four comprising James Brothwell and Jake Wade at centre back and Matt Rutherord and Jason Bennett defending down the flanks, look composed and were the basis for Market Rasen's performance.

The first goal came when a cross from Williams was volleyed home impressively by Joe Osborne. Then Williams got on the score sheet finding himself with a tap in after Market Rasen had passed their way through the Pride defence.

Rasen had a chance to go further ahead when they were awarded a penalty, but Adam Brumpton missed the spot kick. The score remained at 2-0 at half time, and soon after the restart Matt Rutherford added a third when he lobbed the pride keeper from a fee kick.

Williams was using all his experience up front and linking well with his fellow striker Adam Brumpton.

Joe Osborne showed a clean pair of heels to the Pride defenders on many occasions with his trickery. Jason Hall, Ian Dawson and Ian Williams all added further second half goals, but so sure were the Market Rasen back four that Dale Christie in goal did not have a save to make.
