ANGLING: Market Rasen winter league gets underway.

Market Rasen Angling Club started its Winter League with 13 members attending the draw at 8.30am for the 1st leg of the eight leg Winter League Aggregate Shield.

After two consecutive overnight frosts the opinion among members was that the fishing would be tough.

For the Winter League the draw used is a roving draw where members on Sunday drew 1-13, and then starting from one, choose the peg of their choice to fish for the five hour match duration.

Also the points system used is that only the top five weights in all matches score points from five to one.

The match commenced with the all in at 9.30am and it was Zenon Juskiw fishing the feeder method on peg 6 that took the 1st leg with 8lb 15oz.

Second place went to Stuart Cash, again on the method feeder with 7lb 1oz fishing from peg 17 and third place went to Barry Dea’th, also fishing the method feeder on peg 25 with 3lb.

In fourth place was Roy Bentley, fishing pole on peg 23 with 2lb 4oz, with the final spot going to Dave Humphreys fishing the feeder on peg 9 with 2lb 3oz.

So after the 1st Leg the Winter League table looks like this.

Z Juskiw – 5pts

S Cash – 4pts

B Dea’th – 3pts

R Bentley – 2pts

D Humphreys – 1pt

The second match in the Winter League will be on November 18. The draw takes place at 8.30am with fishing between 9.30am and 2.30pm. The match fee is £5.

Any members wishing to take part in the Winter League can do so by turning up for the draw, all will be made welcome.
