Sunday saw Market Rasen Angling Club recommence with match five in their eight match series at the Willingham Road Lake for the Winter League Aggregate Shield.
Ten members made the draw at 8.30am, and after a month’s break and a recent spell of mild weather the anglers were looking to get back into league action. The weather for the day was dry and just above freezing through out the match with only a very slight wind.
The shout for all in came at 9.30am and it turned out the match that the fish were scarce and weights would be on the low side.
One man did find the fish, albeit not on a regular basis, but he stuck to the task and he recorded a well earned win and five points to take him to the top of the leaderboard, that man being Roy Bentley.
Fishing the pole from peg 26 he weighed in at the end of the five hour match with a mixed bag of 3lb 10oz.
Mick Manning took second place fishing from peg 21 and using the waggler to weigh in with 2lb 2oz.
Third place went to Bud Chambers, fishing on peg 28 and using the pole for a weight of 1lb 8oz, fourth spot and some well earned points, with a weight of 1lb 7oz, went to Alan Smith, fishing the pole and method feeder from peg 18.
The final points place was claimed by Stuart Cash with a single perch of 1lb.0oz, fishing the method feeder from peg 24.
Bentley’s win puts him on top of the leaderboard, giving him a two point advantage over De’ath, who failed to get any points in the match,
The leaderboard as it stands with three matches remaining.

2.B Dea’th – 12pts
