Friday, 4.30pm: FOR the first time ever in the 40-plus year history of Caistor Pool League a single player has taken a triple crown - and he is aged just 14.
Sam Bennett, from Coronation Road, Market Rasen, last night, Thursday, won all three of his finals played at the Click’em Inn, Swinhope.

He won the captains cup for the Nag’s Head A by beating Indie Mattu from the George 3-0 and then joined forces with Simon Baxter to beat Social B’s Wayne Chapel and Carl Fenton in the doubles 3-1, before turning the tables on Baxter to beat him 3-0 in the singles final.

Had he not lost last week in the League Cup - Snags Head A being beaten by Binbrook’s Plough A 5-4 at the Butcher’s Nook, there would have been a clean sweep.

“Sam didn’t give an inch all night at the Clicke’em but things wren’t going his way at the Butchers. They came back from 3-0 down to 3-3 but lost the doubles and that messed things up,” said League secretary Alf Bennett, Sam’s granddad.

The winter season doesn’t start up again until October, with a meeting to be held in September, but the summer season will be rolling out shortly, with a meeting at 8pm in the Nags Head, Middle Rasen on Sunday, May 18. All participating clubs are to be represented and new teams are welcomed.
