Scrumpy row raises a thirst

Wednesday noon: A total of 70 rowers in 24 boats from 7 clubs turned up for the Ancholme Rowing Club's first major event of the summer, the Scumpy Row from the clubhouse to Brandy Wharf Cider Centre.
Clubs from the Midlands and Yorkshire as well as Lincolnshire lined up.


Prize giving followed at Brandy Wharf.


The event was run as a time trial over seven miles.


The winner was a veteran single sculler from Boston, Chris Belton, who is an ex member of Ancholme.


The highest placed Ancholme boat was Isabel Wragg in a Womens Novice single scull.


The fastest time of the day (discounting the handicap) was crew 44 the mixed veteran quadruple scull from Peterborough, mixed being two men and two women. .
