AS the cricket season drew to a close in some of the best weather of the damp and dismal apology for a summer, Market Rasen Sunday league team were able to complete their programme in the Lincoln Sunday League with a trip to Lincoln Lindum. going down by 30 runs in a low scoring encounter.

Lindum batted first and made 141 for 9 from their 40 overs. Matt Rutherford playing against some of his Saturday team colleagues took 4 for 31 and Michael Brown took 2 for 19.

The relatively low score gave Market Rasen some hope when they batted after tea, but they found the low autumnal bounce of the wicket made it difficult to get runs on the board, much as Lindum had done earlier.

Most of the batsmen failed to trouble the scorers much, although Matt Rutherford made 34, and Market Rasen were finally bowled out for 111 after 37 overs.

The good news for the Sunday side, however, was that results elsewhere made sure they were safe in the division for another season.
