Marc's star performance not enough for Caistor
CAISTOR Cricket Club's first team were the only Caistor side to play on Saturday losing to Louth in the Lincs ECB League by 76 runs.
Marc Watkins was the star performer for the home side, opening the bowling from the town end and returning 6 for 61.
Louth had got off to a flying start thanks to a half century partnership between opening pair Stuart West and Nuwan Shiroman. When West was trapped lbw by Watkins for 29, John Medlar soon followed, bowled by Watkins for a duck before the innings was steadied by Mark Roberts who top scored with 47.
Louth ended on 184 for 9. Paul Dimbleby with 1 for 45 and Scott Indian 1 for 33, gave good support to Watkins as did James France who bowled 14 overs for a miserly 35 runs but remained wicketless.
When Caistor replied they were soon in trouble. Peter Briggs with 16 at the top of the order, Scott Indian with 31 and Mark Gowshall with 16 not out, were the only batsmen to trouble the scorers too greatly as Dixon returned figures of 5 for 34. Nuwan Shiroman with 3 for 12 gave him good support.
Caistor were finally all out for 108.
