CAISTOR'S batsmen were in their best form of the season on Saturday in the Lincolnshire ECB League match at Messingham, but it could not prevent their side going down to a 5 wicket defeat.
Caistor's 202 for 7 owed much to a partnership of 95 between Paul Dimbleby and Kevin Parker. Dimbleby hit an unbeaten 56, batting in the middle order while Parker had his best score at this level of 37.
Marc Watkins had earlier hit 46. Snee with
3 for 48 and Brumby with 2 for 46 were the pick of the home attack.
It looked a decent total for Messingham to chase down and the match looked in the balance for much of their reply.
Sri Lankan batsman Arman held the innings together with 67 not out and with Scheepers adding 51, Messingham took control in the second half of their innings. They reached their target on 204 for 5 though Caistor take six points from the game in consolatuion. Andy Foster was the pick of the Caistor attack with 2 for 31.
l In Division 1 Caistor 2nds' poor season continued with a 33 run defeat against Holton-le-Clay. Holton le Clay posted a total of 125 all out, only Hallam with 51 getting among the runs. Caistor's young bowler Lewis Jefferson took four for 37.
l Caistor 2nds replied with 92 and had little answer to Hallam who took 7 for 33. Dave Gowshall was top scorer for Caistor with 28. l Caistor 3rds had a league encounter with Outcasts 2nd on Sunday.Outcasts hit 161 for 7 with Clarke top scoring with 39. Terry McKitton took 3 for 39 in the Caistor attack.
Caistor fell short on 115 all out in a match that was reduced to 40 overs. Will Jacob hit 5 for 27 and Fletcher was the pick of the Outcasts attack with 5 for 27.
l Caistor Cougars saw their game with Broughton abandoned due to rain with Broughton on 74 for 3.
