Why spend money on A46 footpath?

EDITOR – May I, through your paper, ask Lincolnshire Highways Department why a new footpath is being laid at Skinners Lane on the A46?

I can’t quite understand the need for this when it’s hardly in a residential area and the road next to where this path is being done is in a very poor condition with potholes all over and some are deep enough to cause considerable damage to vehicles and especially dangerous to motorbikes or cyclists.

I find this is a total waste of money that could have been spent elsewhere and I would really like to know who was responsible for this decision. Perhaps they would be kind enough to let me know why this has taken priority over a very busy and much-used main road.
