I was pleased to note that the paper featured a photograph in the edition of October 16 from the recent, ‘Tea with Mr Darcy’ event at Nettleton Village Hall.
It is a pity, perhaps, that further coverage was not given to this unusual and entertaining occasion.
The talk and the prepared food from the period in question were of a quality deserving of a wider audience – even though the event was well attended.
Readers may be interested to know that those in the photograph who were attired in costume, belong to the Lincolnshire Regency Dance Society which rehearses monthly, mainly in the northern part of the county and which extends a warm welcome to new members.
As well as these meetings, the group attends the annual Horncastle Regency Festival – holding its annual ball in the town - as well as national events.
Membership of the Society is an excellent way of re-living an era that has an increasing appeal for those who found Colin Firth emerging from the lake a memorable image, as well as those with broader historical interests! Further details may be obtained from Julieherrick@hotmail.com
