Leader’s Column - Getting you your services

Have your say

Providing all our residents with the means to access services, such as paying for services and reporting issues online, is a priority for West Lindsey District Council.

That is why we have been working hard to improve internet access across the district through the installation of free computers in village halls, creating digital hubs, providing digital champions and improving our own self-service facilities.

Last year, the council worked with Quickline Communications to install wireless internet in 30 community hubs. This coupled with improvements to our web site, including new electronic forms to make it quicker and easier for residents to access services online, will help open up online services to even more people.

Here at the Guildhall, the new chairs of the council’s various committees were appointed at the meeting of the full council last week. We also saw Coun Malcolm Parish taking over the role of chairman from outgoing chairman Coun Irmgard Parrott.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Irmgard for all of her fantastic work representing the council over the last 12 months.

She has attended a huge array of events and has been a wonderful ambassador for West Lindsey.

I also wish Malcolm all the best for his 12 months as chairman.

Finally, there are just a couple of weeks to go until this year’s Lincolnshire Show. The show is a fabulous event which showcases our fantastic county and all it has to offer.

In the West Lindsey tent the council’s health trainers will be on hand to give out advice and tips on healthy eating and how to keep safe and well, alongside SLM who will be doing exercises for those that want to give it a try.

West Lindsey Tourism will be shouting about what our district has to offer and the Conservation Volunteers will be building a dry stone cairn – so why not pop along and have a go and learn a new skill?

The show is also a great chance to have a chat with your local councillors and find out what is going on in the district. I hope to see you there.
