EDITOR – About THREE years ago a gentleman in Tealby wrote to the Market Rasen Mail asking for any contacts in the area who had links with the HMS Dasher disaster off the Isle of Arran Scotland in 1943.
The loss of life was 379 and the cause of the disaster is believed to have been due to an on board explosion, not though through enemy action.
Only 23 bodies are believed to be in marked graves across Scotland and the others have never been accounted for.
However new developments are presently taking place to try to find the answers to the issues surrounding the disaster, one of the worst of World War 2.
As a regular visitor to Arran for many years I have followed the issues involved closely.
If the writer of the earlier letter wishes to contact me on 01472 851532 I will be pleased to update him.
