EDITOR – In this week’s Market Rasen Mail there was a news item about Andy McNab, the former SAS soldier turned author, who opened the new library at Brigg and said the following:
“I am a big fan of libraries. As an 11-year-old I did not read a lot. I was later told the very reason I did not read was because I could not read.”
I just hope that whoever broke the news to Andy that he could not read did so in a gentle and caring way. News like this can have a terrible effect on a young child.
