A 400 kilometre cycle ride is ahead for four women from the Market Rasen area

Trish Atkinson, Lesley Bradshaw, Lynn Roberts and Sally Cordell have all signed up for the Women V Cancer Cycle Kenya event this autumn.

And the cycling foursome have been putting in the hours, and the miles, in preparation for the five-day ride, which will see them travel from the slopes of Mount Kenya to the shores of Lake Victoria.

“The Rift Valley is somewhere I have always wanted to go,” said Trish.

“When I saw this event advertised, I thought what better reason to get on a bike, raise some money and visit a country I have always wanted to visit.

But it certainly won’t be a holiday for the quartet, who will be part of an 80-strong group of women taking part in the event.

The route will take the cyclists on and off road, with overnight stops in basic accommodation at local villages.

All money raised from the event will be shared between three cancer charities - Breast Cancer Care, the Ovarian Cancer Trust and Jo’s Trust, fighting cervical cancer.

Anyone wanting to sponsor Trish, Lesley, Sally and Lynn can call in to Spring Ladieswear in Market Place Walk, Market Rasen.
