Market Rasen has won an award for having the best small speciality market in Britain - and it has only been running for nine months.
The monthly markets ,organised by Market Business Improvement Group, have proved to be very popular with both residents and visitors to the town.
And now the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) has announced MR BIG is the winner of its annual award for the country’s best small speciality market.
The awards ceremony, held in Birmingham this week, saw the town recognised for pioneering local entrepreneurship by hosting and managing outstanding markets.
MR BIG was congratulated on the scale of its achievements in a short space of time and for excellent trader and community engagement by selecting a theme for every market.
MR BIG director Sarah Lamballe was thrilled to hear the news and said: “People are starting to take pride in Market Rasen.
“We’re absolutely delighted.
“It couldn’t come at a better time.
“We still have challenges, but this is really positive.
“It shows what can be achieved when we work together.”
Sarah praised the hard work of MR BIG markets director Jackie Smith and said this award was “definitely” a sign MR BIG was achieving what it set out to do.
She said: “It isn’t just about the market, our ultimate aim is to help revive the town.
“This can only help bring visitors to Market Rasen.
“It will help us achieve our ambition of putting Market Rasen on the map.”
The MR BIG markets are held on the first Saturday of every month.
