It has taken around 1,000 people and more than a year to complete, but finally Market Rasen’s Big Picture is on view.
The project came out of last year’s Arts Council England funded Plank Festival.
“It has all been about the Market Rasen community coming together and the finished result is amazing,” said Plank Festival organiser Sarah Lamballe.
“Linda Patrick, who led the project, and the Rev Charles Patrick, who did the original design, had great vision.”
A number of groups, and individuals, in the town helped compile the picture, all creating different components, which were put together by a team of stitchers under Linda Patrick’s guidance.
The trees were created by local schools.
“I am really pleased with the finished result,” said Linda.
“I never realised when we started it a year ago how good it would look.
“Thanks go to everyone who contributed to the picture and to Charles Cade for creating the frame for it to be mounted on to, as well as everyone who has come along to help with the finishing touches and get the picture on to the wall.”
The picture is now on display in the main waiting room at Market Rasen Doctors’ surgery in Mill Road and a small board will be created to identify the contributions made.
