A charity walk at North Willingham looks set to raise more than £1,000 to be shared between two health-related charities.

The Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK will both benefit from the event organised by fundraisers Steve Boryszczuk and Sharon Wright at South Wold Farm on Sunday.

“It has been a great day and we know we have raised £1,000 already, with more sponsorship money to come in,” said Steve.

Around 70 walkers headed out across the Wolds, with the choice of a 2 or 5-mile route.

And then it was back to the farm for refreshments, skittles, the raffle and a tombola.

“We would like to thank everyone who has come along to support the event, helped on the day and donated items,” added Sharon.

And one of those was Broadbent Theatre chairman Ian Rushby, who came along with free tickets to a forthcoming production.

Tesco community champion Jenny Stimson also donated bottles of water to keep all the walkers refreshed.

And in 10 days time, Steve will be heading out on another walk - this time thousands of miles away in Peru.

“I have already had pledges of around £3,600, which will bring the total raised for The Alzheimer’s Society to £48,000,” said Steve.

“I would love to top the £50k mark and so have already booked on to Borneo Rainforest trek for next year.”
