Tributes have been paid to former Caistor Grammar School headteacher Trevor Foulkes, who died on Sunday, December 29, aged 83 after battling cancer.
He was headteacher at the school from April 1981 until December 1995.
Current headteacher Roger Hale had previously called for past pupils and staff memories of Mr Foulkes to be shared.
Estelle Foulkes, his wife, said: “I would like to thank all those Caistorians who responded to Roger Hale’s call to share their memories of CGS during Trevor’s time.
“I have collected the emails in a sunny yellow folder. I have read them to Trevor. I have read them to the carers from the Haven team who make the Hospice at Home ideal work; the picture that emerges from the emails moved many of these ladies deeply. And I have invited visitors to read out from them anything that struck them or moved them or made them laugh; what might have been a distressing experience as Trevor struggled to speak turned positive and affirming, easy and relaxed. And he still remembered those names!
“For me, these memories of yours return to me the Trevor I loved and, I hope, will replace my bleak recent memories as I face a future without him. Thank you, all of you.
I would also like to thank Roger Hale for his kind forethought in making the suggestion in the first place and for taking the time to forward the emails to me.”
Mr Foulkes’ funeral will be held at Caistor Parish Church at 2:30pm on Friday January 9.
