North Kelsey man killed in collision

A man has been killed following a collision between two tractors and a car.

James Thompson, 82, of Carr Road, North Kelsey, died after the car he was driving was involved in a collision with two tractors.

Police have released the name of a man who sadly died following a road traffic collision on Main Street, Howsham in North Lincolnshire.

Mr Thompson was driving a silver coloured Volvo, travelling with his 70-year-old wife who was in the front passenger seat when the incident occurred just before 3pm on Friday August 16.

A green John Dere tractor towing agricultural machinery and a yellow JCB tractor towing a trailer transporting hay bales were the two tractors involved.

The green John Dere tractor was heading north from the direction of North Kelsey and the yellow tractor was travelling in the opposite direction along with the Volvo behind it.

The collision occurred as the vehicles were passing one another.

Neither of the tractor drivers were injured, although both suffered from shock as did the 70-year-old lady in the Volvo who also sustained seat belt injuries.

The road was closed and did not re-open until approximately 9pm, to allow investigations at the scene and recovery of the vehicles.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anybody who saw the vehicles prior to the collision to contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101 referring to log 413 of 16 August 2013.
