MARKET Lane in Brigg has been recognised by North Lincolnshire as a public right of way and a long-running issue appears to have been resolved.
Issues arose three years ago following the development of the Grimley-Smith Associates premises on the east side of the lane, when a gate was put in place and local residents claimed the route was still a right of way.
North Lincolnshire were asked by Brigg Town Council to determine ownership. This has led to the recent ruling.
At the monthly town council meeting, members were reminded that North Lincolnshire had approved the gate, subject to the lane not being established as a public right of way.
Councillors voted that they wished the gate be removed now this is established.
