MARKET Rasen station is awash with colour, thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of businesses and other groups.

One of the businesses sponsoring some of this year’s display is Tesco, Market Rasen.

“It is a pleasure to support our neighbours in this way,” said store manager Dean Whiteley.

“It is nice to get involved with something that makes such a difference to the community.

“I can’t remember seeing such a well kept station anywhere else.”

Tesco will also be sponsoring the prizes in the upcoming photographic competition being organised by the Station Adoption Group – more details will be available in the autumn.

Another station open day is planned for next year and the group is also looking forward to 2014, when they will be arranging a memorial event to mark the 50th anniversary of the valiant crash, which is already commemorated with a plaque on the station platform.

Anyone who wants to know more about the Station Adoption Group can go along to the station on a Sunday morning at 10am to speak to the volunteers.
