PLANS are underway for a three-day festival in Woodhall Spa to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Events begin on Saturday, June 2, with a Jubilee Street Market.
Stalls selling local produce, crafts and gifts plus organisations and charities will line St Peters Church Hall and the Golf Hotel.
Live music and other entertainment will create lively street scenes across the village.
Local crafts people, producers, Tastes of Lincolnshire members and other interested organisations are invited to book stalls.
Thousands of visitors and residents are expected to attend.
Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum chairman, Jackie Goodall, said: “It’s a great opportunity to celebrate Lincolnshire produce and all things local, and where better than Woodhall Spa – a truly wonderful village.”
On Sunday, June 3, the village will welcome athletes competing in the East Midlands Triathlon series event, based at Jubilee Park.
Then at 12pm residents and visitors will be invited to enjoy a traditional Street party lunch in Station Road – joining the nation’s Big Lunch taking place up and down the country.
The Mall Public House is taking the lead with the arrangements and will be opening for food and providing live music.
Other eateries in the village will open their doors too, with tables and chairs laid out for those preferring to bring a picnic.
Stef Dutchyn, Landlord at The Mall said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Street Party in Woodhall Spa.
“There is a thriving community spirit here among the residents, volunteers and businesses and we see this as a great way to being everyone together to meet one another, catch up with old friends and celebrate this special occasion.”
Then on Monday, June 4, a Picnic in the Park will be held at Jubilee Park, with Champagne and strawberries on offer from the Petwood Hotel who will be in the park for the event.
The newly refurbished pool at Jubilee Park will be open for swimming and the park and play areas provide a great space for families and friends to come together and enjoy the stunning surrounds.
Emma Brealey, director at the Petwood Hotel said: “There is so much happening during the Jubilee weekend and we are delighted to be partnering Jubilee Park for this picnic event.
“I’m sure many visitors and residents will be out and about to enjoy Woodhall Spa during the festival weekend.”
